A leading engineering company, in partnership with Robert Walters, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager for Strategy & Business Transformation. About the Role

As the General Manager, you will be at the forefront of the organisation’s strategic direction and transformation journey. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the strategic direction and transformation agenda, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering measurable improvements across all functions.
• Serving as a central leader, fostering collaboration across departments and engaging external stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.
• Communicating and cascading strategic goals throughout the organization to ensure alignment and focus.
• Leading large-scale transformation programs from planning to implementation, with a strong focus on enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing costs, and ensuring sustainable impact.
• Anticipating and managing risks associated with strategic initiatives, developing and implementing mitigation strategies for successful outcomes.
• Overseeing the implementation of changes, minimizing disruption to ongoing operations and securing stakeholder buy-in.
• Directing and motivating cross-functional teams to effectively execute transformation initiatives, ensuring broad adoption and measurable success.
• Conducting detailed market and competitive analyses to identify growth opportunities and threats, incorporating insights into strategic planning.
• Establishing robust systems for evaluating the impact of strategic and transformation initiatives, presenting findings to executive leadership.
• Leading the planning and execution of priority transformation programs using advanced program and project management methodologies for timely delivery.
• Monitoring and evaluating organizational performance against strategic objectives, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Providing high-level, data-driven reports and insights to senior leadership to support informed decision-making.
• Developing and overseeing comprehensive program and project plans, including detailed business cases and managing the gateway approval process for key initiatives.
• Driving a culture of innovation by recommending and integrating cutting-edge technologies, tools, and practices to enhance organizational performance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
• A Master’s Degree or MBA is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in strategy development, business transformation, or management consulting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
• Prior experience working in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) or oil & gas company is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in project and program management from initial design to successful completion.

This is an on-site position based in Lagos.
