What Does It Cover?

The SANParks Bursary supports students pursuing qualifications in fields vital to conservation, tourism, and community upliftment. Here are the main areas of study:

  • Environmental Sciences: Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Green Energy, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Development, Game Ranch Management.
  • Tourism: Hospitality Management, Resort Management, Tour Guiding, Events and Conference Management.
  • Social Sciences: Community Development, Economic Development, Socio-Economic Development, Development Studies and related fields.

Who Can Apply?

Is this bursary calling your name? Here’s who SANParks is looking for:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You need to be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • You should be residing in communities neighbouring a national park (check SANParks management plans if you’re unsure!).
  • You must be entering your first year of undergraduate or TVET study in 2026.
  • You need to have already applied and been accepted at a registered and accredited South African public institution.
  • Currently enrolled students: You’ll need a 100% pass rate for all your registered modules.

Heads up: SANParks gives preference to women, persons with disabilities, and members of designated groups. So, if that’s you, even better!

  • Your official letter of acceptance from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Proof of your residential address.
