Chief Executive Officer – Wits Oral Health Centre
The Department of Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the Wits Oral Health Centre on a 5-year fixed-term contract. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader with a commitment to improving public health outcomes and managing a complex healthcare institution.

Key Responsibilities
As the CEO, you will be responsible for:
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and managing the efficient delivery of clinical and administrative support services in collaboration with the Executive Management team.
- Representing the hospital effectively at provincial and public forums.
- Providing strategic leadership to enhance operational efficiency and improve health outcomes.
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan aligned with national and provincial priorities.
- Ensuring sound financial management, including revenue maximization, budget adherence (PFMA compliant), and prudent resource, asset, and risk management.
- Overseeing facility management to ensure optimal operational efficiency and timely maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.
- Developing and maintaining human resource policies, promoting a safe work environment, and leading staff development initiatives.
- Implementing a fair, transparent, competitive, and cost-effective procurement system.
- Ensuring high standards of patient care through robust clinical governance and establishing strong community networks.
- Managing corporate governance, including infrastructure planning, maintenance, occupational health, and safety, and institutional risk.
- Possessing excellent report writing skills and being prepared to work extended and irregular hours.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 Certificate.
- An appropriate Degree (NQF Level 7) in a health-related field.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body.
- A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a public health institution.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of public sector and health-related legislation, regulations, and policies, particularly concerning hospital management.
- A valid Driver’s Licence (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
- Computer literacy.
