It is an exciting opportunity to lead the Sefako Makgatho University Oral Health Centre as its Chief Executive Officer. This is a crucial leadership role within the public health sector, based in Pretoria, Gauteng, offered on a 5-Year Fixed Term Contract. You will be instrumental in driving strategic initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering high-quality healthcare services.

About the Role

As the CEO, you will oversee all clinical and administrative functions, providing strategic direction to improve health outcomes and operational excellence. This pivotal position requires a dynamic leader committed to public service and healthcare advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic leadership to enhance operational efficiency and improve health outcomes.
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans aligned with national and provincial health priorities.
  • Ensuring prudent financial management, maximising revenue, and managing the budget in line with PFMA regulations.
  • Optimising facility management and business support systems for effective service delivery.
  • Overseeing human resource management, promoting a healthy working environment, and fostering staff development.
  • Implementing efficient and transparent procurement processes for equipment and supplies.
  • Ensuring robust clinical and corporate governance, maintaining high standards of patient care, and managing institutional risks.
  • Representing the hospital at provincial and public forums.
  • Demonstrating strong report writing skills and a willingness to work irregular hours as needed.

Who We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Grade 12 Certificate.
  • An appropriate Degree (NQF Level 7) in a health-related field.
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a public health institution.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of public sector and health sector legislation, regulations, and hospital management.
  • A valid Driver’s Licence (unless exempted for persons with disabilities).
  • Strong computer literacy.

Added Advantages:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Management.
  • Experience working in an academic setting.
