Chief Executive Officer – University of Pretoria Oral Health Centre
The Department of Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the University of Pretoria Oral Health Centre. This is a crucial five-year fixed-term contract appointment, requiring a dynamic leader to drive operational efficiency and ensure high standards of public health service delivery.
About the Role
As the CEO, you will provide strategic leadership and manage the efficient delivery of clinical and administrative support services at the University of Pretoria Oral Health Centre. You will work closely with the Executive Management team, represent the hospital at various forums, and be instrumental in improving health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the hospital, aligning with national and provincial health priorities.
- Oversee comprehensive financial management, including revenue maximisation, budget adherence (PFMA compliant), financial resource planning, monitoring, and risk management.
- Ensure effective facility management, maintaining optimal business support systems, and overseeing timely maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Lead human resource management, developing and implementing policies for efficient HR utilisation, promoting a safe working environment, and fostering staff development.
- Manage procurement and supply systems to ensure fair, transparent, cost-effective, and timely acquisition of goods and services.
- Oversee clinical and corporate governance, ensuring high standards of patient care, establishing community networks, reporting to the Hospital Board, and managing institutional risks.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and be prepared to work extended and irregular hours as needed.
Requirements
- A Grade 12 Certificate is essential.
- An appropriate Degree (NQF Level 7) in a health-related field.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body.
- A minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a public health institution.
- Added Advantages: A postgraduate qualification in Management and/or experience working in an academic setting.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of public sector legislation, regulations, and policies, particularly in the health sector and hospital management.
- Valid Driver’s Licence (exceptions for persons with disabilities).
- Computer literacy.
- Proven competencies in: Strategic Capability and Leadership, Programme and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, People Management and Empowerment, Service Delivery Innovation, Problem Solving and Analysis, Communication, Client Orientation, and Customer Focus.
