Head of Markets

Are you an experienced sales leader with a proven track record across Sub-Saharan Africa? Our client, a leading professional training and certification organization, is actively seeking a dynamic Head of Markets to drive significant growth across the region.

About the Role

This senior leadership position requires you to be based in South Africa, with essential travel throughout the Sub-Saharan African region as required. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated sales team, expanding market presence, and enhancing the success of our partners.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Markets, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing a high-performing sales team, ensuring efficient, structured sales processes, accurate reporting, effective CRM utilization, and the creation of world-class proposals.
  • Driving strategic growth activities with various entities, including private organizations, government bodies, and Authorised Training Partners (ATPs).
  • Engaging and building relationships with high-profile public sector leaders, leveraging your senior stakeholder management expertise.
  • Applying advanced selling and consulting skills to achieve ambitious business objectives and market expansion targets.
  • Continuously improving project success rates and overall performance for partners across the entire region.

Who We’re Looking For

To be successful in this pivotal role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; an MBA or PMP certification is highly preferred.
  • 7-10 years of robust management experience within a global business environment, particularly involving multiple markets and channels.
  • A strong track record of over 10 years in successful channel and B2B management, business plan development, and the integration of market planning across diverse geographical areas.
  • Over 10 years of experience in skillfully developing impactful partnerships, crafting compelling proposals, and negotiating effective agreements that drive business growth.
  • Excellent professional B2B/B2G (Business-to-Government) sales and/or consulting experience; experience in Project Management consulting is a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated capability in leading and inspiring a sales or consulting team to achieve exceptional results.
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing and relationship management tools and techniques, with the ability to effectively present and apply them at senior management and top executive levels.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, including a proven ability to lead, retain, and develop staff for operational and strategic success.
  • Experience thriving in an agile, dynamic, and customer-centric work environment.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; knowledge of additional regional languages is a significant plus.

Location

Johannesburg, South Africa (This is a remote position with required regional travel).
